Have You Tuned into Nissan's 'TRUCKUMENTARY'

Are you a pickup truck enthusiast? If so, then you’ll want to tune into Nissan’s ‘Truckumentary’ series, which explores the development of the all-new, next-generation 2016 Titan. (1)

Overview

The newly-redesigned Nissan Titan is a big deal, because the truck’s recent overhaul was long overdue, and we’re expecting the 2016 model to put up a good fight when it officially goes head-to-head with rivals from Toyota and the Big Three (General Motors, Ford and Chrysler). (1)

At the moment, we know the automaker's heavy-duty XD will feature a new and powerful Indiana-built (2) 5.0-liter Turbo Diesel V-8 of Cummins origin, capable of generating a total output of 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. Expect beefy grunt and impressive fuel economy from this beast of a machine that pairs to a heady-duty six-speed automatic transmission. What’s more, when properly equipped, Nissan’s tough pickup can tow over 12,000 pounds, according to the manufacturer. (3)

‘Truckumentary’ Series

The “Nissan Titan Truckumentary” video series explores what it takes to develop a full-size pickup (1) by highlighting the design, planning and engineering of the company's new truck, (3) while showing us the continuous evolution of the model in the process. (1)

Each chapter explores a different topic/angle of the 2016 Titan. For example, chapter one sets the stage with the brand’s history, while chapter two, “The Quarterback,” discusses several breakthrough elements that debuted on the original pickup and how Nissan’s team plans to improve the vehicle’s history and innovation. (3)

Chapter three, “Sketch Pad,” features the brand’s senior design manager (of Nissan Design America), Diane Allen, who is, along with her team, responsible for the design of the Cummins-powered 2016 Titan XD. Allen also managed the group that worked on the original Titan and so offers some insight into the inspiration and philosophy behind the truck's design process. (3)

Chapter four, “Titan Tough,” discussed the vehicle’s early durability testing; chapter five, “Heart of Cold,” looks at cold-weather testing; and finally, chapter six: “Diesel Goodness,” released on May 6, 2015, explores the relationship between the Japanese automaker and Cummins, Inc. (3)

Overall

If you’re a pickup truck enthusiast, you'll probably enjoy these videos, which hover around the four-minute mark. (1) And if you're eager to get your hands on the new Titan, you'll have to wait until it goes on sale later this year. In the meantime, we suggest contacting your Ferman Nissan of Tampa dealer for more information. (2)
